Interview preparation

In Social studies we have learned more about what it's like if you were to get or have a job for this activity we had a digital interview. This is where you have to answer questions about our qualities and more. One thing that I enjoyed but didn't enjoy was having to agree with myself at what I am good at and what I'm not so good at.

Here is a link of what we had to do for our digital interview.

Careers

For Social studies at the beginning of this term we have been learning about different careers. We had to choose within our top 3 jobs we might wanna do in the future. I chose to study about directors, photographers and architectural technicians. We had to answer questions like what are important facts about the jobs, how much can you earn, what other  job opportunities can you get/earn, length of training to be qualified, study campuses and what things are important about your job. One thing that was not easy was finding some of the answers for the question, another thing that was easy is what job I would want to do. After all this we then had to choose one out of the three and find out even more about the job I chose to do architectural technicians.

Future Planing

In social studies these past couple of weeks we have been working on our future and deciding what

we wanna do and be when we are older. We were given a booklet with heaps of different activities

relating to our future. The very first activity we had to complete was a word match. This is where you

match words with the definition for example budget would connect with a plan that shows the time or

money you have and how you will spend it. The next activity we did was true and false. This is where

you get asked a question and decide whether or not it is true or false. We then chose whether or not

certain jobs are for men or women. I chose both for every job. We did another activity where we

chose where we would like to live. I chose the countryside where there are a lot of activities and a

river nearby. We had to choose what type of houses and car we wanted. I wanted to build my own

house and walk everywhere. The next activity we had to complete was how I'd like to spend my

spare time and plan our dream holiday. After we finished all of these activities we had to add up our

total and figure out how much we really make in a month My job was a architectural technicians and

you can make 75,000 a year so if you were to divide that by 12 you will find how much you make a

month, I would make 6,250 a month without paying taxes and stuff but after I pay all my stuff off a

month I would really get around 1,800 a month.

Being globally minded

We have been learning about 3 concepts: economy, trade and globalisation. Economy determines what taxes will be used for in the community. And how people earn money, Trade is the general marketplace of buying and selling goods.Globalisation is the word used to describe the interdependence of the world. Globalisation is also when something goes viral or popular around the world.

After we learned the three concepts we had to research an NZ export product, I decided I wanted to research wine or alcohol, cause it is a very popular export product. Did you know the total worth of NZ export products around the world in 2021 is 130.53 billion dollars. This was how wine became wine. Chemical analyses recently confirmed that the earliest alcoholic beverage in the world was a mixed fermented drink of rice, honey, and hawthorn fruit and/or grape. The residues of the beverage, dated ca. 7000–6600 BCE, were recovered from early pottery from Jiahu, a Neolithic village in the Yellow River Valley. The top NZ trading partners are china, Europe, Australia and USA

9T English

English this year was very fun and tough. The beginning of the year we had to do slides talking about ourselves. Then we had to do 2 minute speeches and it was very hard to start the year off but I finished it and got a merit, my speech was about the issues within our school. After we finished speeches, we started to do Rapid Reading Response before every lesson of English I think this has really helped my reading. Then we had to read a novel and answer questions this novel was called see ya Simon this book was about Simon and he had a disease called muscular dystrophy . We then had a short story that we also had to rewrite and answer a few questions to this short story, the story was about the balaclava which is about a boy stealing a beanie. the second to last thing we did this year was film study for these lessons we had  this is where you watch a film and study it we watched stand by me, this film was about boys that ran away to find one of their brothers. This term we have been learning about creative writing, for creative writing we have been learning about verbs, adverbs, adjectives, similes and personification. I have learnt alot during this year of English, Thank you to Whaea Annette for welcoming me in her class and letting us do whatever for most Fridays, I will miss you next year :)

Nz Exported Product

In social studies we have been learning about NZ exported products. I was required to make a slideshow and answer a few questions. For our NZ Export product we chose to research alcohol, we chose to do this subject because it is a well known product around the world and also around NZ , another reason why we chose this product is because it is easy to research about and also cause everybody loves it.
